Twittering may trigger legal action

Individuals who use Twitter or other internet sites to breach injunctions could face legal action, says the Attorney General. While enforcement of orders made in civil cases was normally a matter for whoever had taken out the injunction he said that he would take action himself by bringing contempt proceedings if he thought it necessary to uphold the rule of law. Proceedings could be brought against individual Twitter users in England and Wales, as well as newspapers that dropped heavy hints about the identity of a person protected by an injunction.
