Intellectual property crime

The government has published the 2010-2011 intellectual property (IP) crime report which looks at the impact of IP crime and the range of products that are being illegally counterfeited. These included pharmaceuticals, alcohol, electrical goods and oil filters that found their way into the genuine supply chain. The report details what action is being taken to counter IP crime including: partnership working, the new IP Crime Strategy and the creation of a National Crime Agency in 2013. A number of education and awareness activities are being undertaken and while more criminality is being carried out online, other channels such as outdoor markets and car boot sales, also remain a problem.
