Music licensing changes

Last month saw the Live Music Act 2012 come into force, making a number of amendments to legislation which relate to live music performance. The changes partly deregulate live music, providing a conditional exemption for premises where the live music is performed to no more than 200 people between 8.00 am and 11.00 pm, and an exemption for the performance between the same times of unamplified music, provided that it does not take place in premises authorised to sell alcohol.
