Funding for copyright hub

Lord Younger, the intellectual property minister, has announced that the government is to give £150,000 funding to kick-start the Copyright Hub. The Hub will be a website linking to a wide range of databases and digital copyright exchanges designed to help consumers, rights-holders and small businesses navigate the complexity of copyright, offering them a range of licensing options in a straightforward online transaction. The Hub is to be designed and built by industry; it has been estimated that it could take two years to build. A small private company, the Copyright Hub Limited, has been formed to handle financial and legal issues in relation to the project.
